DACHSER
Challenging customer for
13 years

DACHSER Group SE & Co. KG from Kempten (Allgäu) is a global logistics service provider with around 400 locations, over 30,000 employees, and net sales of EUR 8.1 billion in 2022. DACHSER is known for its state-of-the-art digital logistics solutions. We helped the company, with its complex group structure, to significantly simplify the approval of invoices.

The challenge

In the past, DACHSER suffered from the lack of a company-wide purchasing organization with structured processes. Orders (internal and external) were received manually via forms or telephone and entered into the system. In addition, the locations operated independently. This was a) time-consuming, b) there was a lack of central coordination, c) the management level did not have a transparent overview, and d) cost planning was difficult. We supported Dachser in introducing a centralized purchasing management system, taking into account all internal and external order requirements.

Our services

  • Introduction of automation tools along the entire Purchase-to-Pay process
  • Implementing the purchase requisition process type
  • Integration of the familiar logistics software to simplify the release of incoming invoices and minimize the need for change management
  • Set up a catalog with a shopping cart for standard orders
  • Final connection of all locations to the new ordering system

Result: Fast, simpler, more efficient

With the help of the integrations we planned step by step, DACHSER was able to switch to centrally controlled purchasing processes without any errors. Transparency and predictability increased significantly, and the effort required for communication between the locations was greatly reduced. All purchasing and invoice processes are now considerably faster and more efficient. The manual effort has been almost eliminated, many processes have been digitized and invoice verification has been simplified to such an extent that the vast majority of approvals are now automatically checked and completed by the system.
